Do you like Between the Buried and Me? Their early work was a little too ‘metalcore’ for my taste, but when Alaska came out in ‘05, I think they really came into their own - both technically and progressively. The whole album has a tight, grandiose sound, and a new sheen of intricacy that really gives the album a big boost. They’ve been compared to King Crimson, but I think they have a far more defined, tighter sense of sound.
In ‘07, BTBAM released this, Colors, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is ‘White Walls’, a song so heavy most people can’t handle the breakdown. But they should, because it’s not just about the heaviness of the breakdown, and the fantastic solo, it’s also a social commentary about what we will be remembered for! Hey Paul!
